About Aunt Sals
Where Dogs Are Treated Like Family
I’m now in my fourth year of dog boarding and have recently started welcoming day care clients too.
My own dog, Poppy, passed away in October 2023 at the age of 14. Losing her truly broke my heart. She was the Mary Poppins of the dog world — practically perfect in every way.
I always try to explore different locations, steering clear of roads, people, and other dogs so that our dogs can enjoy a relaxed off-lead experience. For those who can’t be off-lead, I have plenty of long lines to make sure they’re still part of the adventure.
I’m an animal first aider, fully insured, and licensed with Gedling Borough Council (Licence No. 24/00736/ANHOME).
I’m based in Bestwood Village, surrounded by endless fields and beautiful scenery. We visit a variety of locations in our customised van, fitted with individual crates for your dogs comfort and safety. We are fully insured and up to date with MOT.
From vast farmers fields for your dogs to run free or Samson Woods for sniffing around and streams to paddle and play - everyday is an adventure!
So, if your dog is looking for a fun, adventure-filled holiday — packed with new friends, therapeutic aromas, waterside play, and days so exciting they’ll fall asleep wondering what tomorrow will bring — please get in touch. I’d love to meet them and start planning their perfect getaway.
Meet Sal
The Heart Behind the Business
Hi, I’m Sal — but most people around here know me as Aunt Sal. I’ve been a dog lover for as long as I can remember, and I’ve spent more than 30 years as a dedicated dog owner.
It was through looking after friends' and neighbours' dogs that I realised just how much I enjoyed caring for them. That’s when I made the decision to turn my passion into something more — and Aunt Sal’s Dog Boarding was born.
Since then, I’ve built a small, caring business around the values that matter most to me: kindness, reliability, safety, and trust. I’m proud to say I’ve completed a canine first aid course, hold a full, clean UK driving licence, and am constantly investing in making sure the dogs in my care are happy, stimulated, and well looked after.
This isn’t just a job — it’s a way of life, and I absolutely love it.

Safety & Standards
We Take Your Dog’s Wellbeing Seriously
We hold a 5-Star Licence from Gedling Borough Council, awarded to dog carers who meet the highest standards of safety, hygiene, welfare, and record-keeping.
We are fully insured, covering all day care, boarding, walks, and transport services.
Our transport van is MOT-approved and fitted with secure crates, so dogs can travel safely when we head out for new walking routes.
I’ve completed canine first aid training, so I’m prepared to handle minor injuries or emergencies calmly and effectively.
A Home You Can Trust
Safe, Comfortable, and Tailored to Dogs
When you leave your dog with me, they’re not being sent to a kennel or shut away — they’re joining our household.
Our home is located in a peaceful cul-de-sac in Bestwood Village, away from busy roads and distractions. Dogs have free access to our large, fully enclosed rear garden, which is fenced all the way around with 6-foot-high panels for safety.
Whether they want to play, sunbathe, or just mooch about, they can do so in a secure outdoor space fitted with astroturf.
Inside, it’s just like home — because it is home. Dogs stay indoors with me, enjoying the same comforts and routines they’re used to. I create a relaxed, calm environment where dogs can rest between walks and play, and I do everything I can to mirror their usual habits and preferences.
Because we keep numbers small and personal, each dog gets the attention they deserve. Whether they’re with us for a few hours or a few nights, they’re part of the family.

A Beautiful Place to Be a Dog
Walks, Play, and a Whole Lot of Tail Wags
The setting here couldn’t be better for dogs who love a good walk. Just moments from our doorstep are vast woodlands, streams and fields — fantastic spots for walks, sniffing, paddling, or just soaking up the sights and sounds of nature.
We tailor every walk and activity to the individual dog. Some love long, energetic adventures. Others are older or more relaxed and prefer a gentle stroll. Either way, we go at their pace and make sure they’re comfortable and content.
Back home, we’ve got a warm dog shower that’s ideal for cleaning up muddy paws — especially useful for those dogs who can’t resist rolling in whatever that was. Clean, dry, and ready to relax, they’ll be back in the comfort of our cosy home in no time.
We truly offer a
home-from-home
service that’s built around kindness, consistency, and love.
